Canada Post Strike

Earlier today, Canada Post announced it would temporarily shut down its postal operations due to a national strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. This strike will affect millions of Canadians and businesses across the country, including those in Port Colborne.

The postal strike means that Canada Post mail will not be processed or delivered. At this time, the City of Port Colborne is closely monitoring the strike situation and is looking ahead at alternative arrangements for residents who still rely on the mail system to receive their regular water bills, or other paper-based correspondence.

The City encourages all residents to plan for disruptions and aim to pay their water or other bills by the deadline, wherever possible.

At this time, residents who normally receive their monthly water bills in the mail can plan to get a copy of their November water bill by:

1. Signing up for e-billing to receive your bill electronically
2. Enrolling in Virtual City Hall to view your bills online
3. After November 25, coming into City Hall in person to get a paper copy of your bill
4. Paper bills were delivered Monday, November 25.

If the strike is still occurring, please do not attempt to mail a payment to City Hall. The City offers a variety of other payment options for you to choose from.

For more information, residents can call the City’s customer service team at 905-835-2900 or email customerservice@portcolborne.ca
