Did you hear the news? Environment Canada is calling yesterday’s snow storm a ‘once in a decade’ event!
I am sure our snow plow operators (and anyone that has had to operate a shovel or snow blower) would agree!
We currently have a crew of nine deployed across the City continuing plow operations, which includes sidewalks, parking lots, and laneways.
Schools and regional child care facilities remain closed today.
Below is an update from the Niagara Region with respect to immunization clinics, transit, and waste collection.
The Mass Immunization Clinic in Niagara Falls will open at noon today. Residents with scheduled appointments from Monday and this morning can walk in at any future clinic to receive their vaccination.
Transit
- Niagara Region Transit is resuming regular service today. Please note detouring may be required as road conditions vary across Niagara.
- Niagara Specialized Transit will operate for essential trips only. Riders will be contacted to identify those trips deemed necessary.
- NRT OnDemand will operate for essential trips only. Due to road conditions across the service areas, service times and availability may be severely impacted.
Waste Collection
- Curbside collection service is scheduled to resume today, residents can expect delays as trucks and crews deal with road conditions. Any necessary updates will be provided throughout the day.
- Your regularly scheduled collection day during the week of Jan. 17 will be delayed by one day this week, with Friday's collection being completed on Saturday
- Residents are also reminded to place their garbage and recycling containers on their driveway near the edge of the road, not on top of snow banks.
