Lions Field mural location

The City of Port Colborne and the Port Colborne Lions Club are looking for input on a new mural that will be added to Lions Field Park. Residents will have the opportunity to vote on four different mural designs that capture the rich heritage of Port Colborne and the legacy of Lions Field. The mural will be painted on an existing building facing Killaly Street West.

Each proposed mural incorporates several design elements, including a lion to represent the Lions Club, baseball players, the Port Colborne landscape and notable aspects of the Lions Carnival. The overarching goal is to convey a positive atmosphere that reflects community spirit. Residents are asked to choose the design they feel captures the following qualities:

  • Provides Aesthetic Enhancement: The mural that transforms plain walls into eye-catching focal points that can uplift the overall ambiance of the field.
  • Cultural Expression: The mural that celebrates local culture, history, or traditions, fostering a sense of community and pride.
  • Storytelling: The mural that tells a story or conveys a message, making it a powerful communication and reflection.
  • Inspiration and Motivation: The mural that features a motivational theme, serving as a reminder to inspire and uplift those who see it.
  • Brand Identity: The mural that reinforces brand identity and creates a unique environment.
  • Historical Commemoration: The mural that honours significant events, figures, or movements, preserving the history of the Lions’ legacy in a visually impactful way.

Voting will take place through a survey on the City’s Let’s Connect website. Voting will be open from Nov. 7 until Nov. 28 and the winning mural will be announced on Dec. 3.
