Effective today, Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, the Vale Health & Wellness Centre, 550 Elizabeth Street, will re-open as the province cautiously and gradually eases public health measures.
What does this mean?
The Vale Health & Wellness Centre, including the Port Colborne YMCA, will re-open with capacity limits set at 50%.
- Proof of full vaccination status (two doses) is required for anyone 12 years and older through the enhanced COVID-19 vaccine certificate (QR code), either downloaded onto a smart phone or printed on a piece of paper. Enhanced vaccine certificates will be scanned through the Verify Ontario App, along with photo ID, to gain access to the facility. A laptop and printer are available for patrons that require assistance in printing their enhanced vaccine certificate.
- Active screening/contact tracing remains in effect for participants/spectators.
- Participants and/or user groups are permitted to access dressing rooms 15 minutes before and after rental.
- Face covering requirements remain in effect.
- Social distancing for spectators remains in effect.
- Public skating programs will resume. Visit our website for schedule.
- The walking track is also open daily from 6:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
The city’s recreation department encourages residents to re-connect with recreation outdoors, too! The City of Port Colborne is home to 21 parks, comprising approximately 88 hectares of parks, open spaces, and natural areas to play, toboggan, walk, cross country ski, bike, and so much more!
What else does this mean?
In addition to easing restrictions on recreational facilities, on Jan. 31 the province has increased social gathering limits to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors and in-person dining can resume with a 50 per cent capacity. Every subsequent 21 days it is planned that more restrictions will be lifted, and capacities increased. For more information, visit www.ontario.ca.
