vale fireworks

The excitement of New Year’s Eve will start in the afternoon in Port Colborne with a full slate of activities at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre.

Taking place from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, an afternoon of swimming, skating, fireworks and more will offer a chance for families to ring in the new year early.

Along with additional favourites including face painting and gym activities, attendees of all ages will also have a chance to learn more about the Port Colborne Library’s new Library of Things.

The new collection provides an assortment of items that can be used by residents for a variety of daily tasks and activities. Items include a sewing machine, colour blind glasses, snowshoes, cookie cutters, microphones, a mini button maker, and so much more! The tools, toys and other borrowable treasures were donated by the Erwin Taylor Charitable Foundation and will be on display from 2 to 5:30 p.m., as well as to check out from the library any time.

The rest of the afternoon’s activities include:

  • Free family open swim from 2 to 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 to 5 p.m.
  • YMCA bouncer and gym activities from 2 to 5:30 p.m.
