The City is introducing a new method of road preservation known as “microsurfacing”, which adds a new layer of protection to the existing asphalt road to prolong its life and improve safety by increasing friction and therefore traction of the road.
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, July 25, a contractor will be completing the microsurfacing on Killaly Street East between Elizabeth Street and White Road. During this time, a road closure will be in place; however, local residents will still be permitted to enter and exit the area. There may be small periods of time (10 to 15 minutes) where access is unavailable if the equipment is directly in front of an intersection or driveway. Overall, disruptions to local residents are expected to be limited.
Construction is expected to start at 7 a.m. and be completed at 5 p.m.
Where possible, residents within the closure that are south of Killaly Street East are encouraged to take alternative exits, such as Lakeshore Road East to Durham Road, or Vimy Road to Cedar Bay road.
