With barks, woofs, and howls, dogs will take to Port Colborne’s Nickel Beach to celebrate an area they can call their own.
The City will celebrate the addition of a new Dog Zone at Nickel Beach with a day of lakeside activities for furry friends Saturday, June 15.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., local pet businesses, humane societies and by-law officers will be at the beach at 69 Lake Road to provide pet parents with important information regarding safe and responsible pet ownership.
Introduced for the 2024 beach season, the Dog Zone is located on the east side of the beach and will allow well-behaved dogs that remain on leash at all times.
Visitors to the event and their canine companions will have the opportunity to ask (or bark) questions, browse pet products and grab a snack at the entrance of the beach before moving to the Dog Zone.
Along with local pet businesses and animal safety services, there will also be games and giveaways available to dogs and owners alike.
Port Colborne residents can park for free in Zone 2 with their PORTicipate pass, while visitors from further afield can use the Honk Mobile app to park.
