The Family Day holiday weekend will be observed in Port Colborne with an array of activities as well as a day of building closures.
Activities:
- Friday, Feb. 14
- Families are invited to celebrate friendship and make a butterfly craft at the library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event is in partnership with PFLAG Niagara.
- A free skate sponsored by Lower Lakes Towing Ltd. will be available at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre from 10 a.m. to noon.
- A free drop-in Victorian Valentine’s Day card activity will take place at the L.R. Wilson Archives from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 15
- Story time with Shelly will take place in the children’s room of the library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and is free for all ages.
- Monday, Feb. 17
- The YMCA is hosting a free afternoon of activities inside the Vale Health and Wellness Centre from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include family bounce, pickleball, cornhole, 3 vs. 3 hockey, a basketball shooting competition, and an arts and crafts area.
- A free skate sponsored by Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada will be available at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Building closures:
Except for the Vale Health and Wellness Centre, all City facilities are closed Monday, Feb. 17 to observe Family Day. To report a Public Works emergency, call 905-835-2900 and press ‘9’ to reach dispatch. City facilities will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m. with customer service representatives available between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by phone at 905-835-2900 or by emailing customerservice@portcolborne.ca.
