fire department

The City of Port Colborne is committed to ensuring emergency services are well equipped and resourced to respond when our community is in need.

After a careful review our community’s fire services needs, city staff and Council have determined that the City of Port Colborne will not move forward with a shared services agreement for emergency fire services with the Township of Wainfleet.

Throughout this process, several residents, firefighters, and community members offered their feedback on the prospect of sharing fire administration services with the Township of Wainfleet. This insight and input were important factors in the City’s decision to not move forward.

The City is proud to welcome Chief David Wood, new interim Fire Chief for the City of Port Colborne’s Fire Department. Chief Wood previously served as Fire Chief for the City of St. Catharines and comes to his new role with 30 years of experience in fire suppression and emergency services administration.

The City would like to sincerely thank Chief Morgan Alcock and Deputy Chief Shawn Shutten from the Township of Wainfleet for their service to Port Colborne over the past several months.

The City hopes the entire community will join firefighters and city staff in welcoming Chief Wood to our community when he begins on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
