The City of Port Colborne, in collaboration with Civica Infrastructure Inc., will be conducting sanitary maintenance throughout the City, with a focus on the western region. This proactive initiative includes flushing and CCTV inspection of sewers to ensure our sewage systems remain efficient.
Impact on Residents:
- You may hear gurgling or bubbling from the water traps in toilets, sinks, or floor drains.
- In homes with insufficient venting, water might be drawn out into the service, potentially causing sewage odours.
- After flushing is completed in front of your residence, run cold water to restore water in the traps.
Timeline:
- Start Date: Tuesday, October 15, 2024
- Expected End Date: Friday, April 18, 2025
- Work Hours: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Details of the Work:
The maintenance involves cleaning the sanitary sewer main between maintenance holes in the public right-of-way. A Vactor truck will be used to perform high-pressure flushing and debris removal, which may create a vacuum in the pipes and affect water levels in your home.
Important Recommendation:
To prevent water from splashing out, please keep toilet seats down during the maintenance work.
For any concerns or issues, please contact Public Works at 905-228-8130.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to maintain the integrity of our sewage systems. Your understanding helps ensure the continued efficiency of our community’s infrastructure.
