The City of Port Colborne has received reports of a possible text message scam happening in the area. Residents have reported receiving suspicious text messages claiming to be from the City of Port Colborne’s parking enforcement team, asking residents to pay a past-due parking ticket online.
Please know the City of Port Colborne does not send out automated text messages and will never ask for personal financial information via text message.
If you receive a text message like this, please do not respond and do not provide any personal information to the requester. You are encouraged to file a report with the Niagara Regional Police if there is an element of financial loss.
