City of Port Colborne warns residents of phone scam

The City of Port Colborne has received reports of a possible phone scam happening in the area. Residents have received phone calls from individuals falsely stating they are from the City of Port Colborne. These individuals are advising homeowners they need to access their basements to determine if they qualify to have a sump pump put in as they have been identified as a house in a “red zone” for flooding.

Please know the City of Port Colborne does not have a program that identifies “red zones,” and any inspections regarding flooding by the City would be initiated by the homeowner.
