Marina Rentals

The first official day of summer is here, and the City of Port Colborne has many fun-in-the-sun activities for residents and visitors to participate in throughout the season. From sunny beach days to cool evenings on the lawn, Port Colborne is offering many fun and exciting opportunities to get involved with the community. Here are some of the events and programs to look forward to this summer:

Roller Skating at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre

Roller skating is making a triumphant return to the Vale Health and Wellness Centre, promising an exhilarating experience for all ages. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or eager to try something new, the centre offers a fantastic venue to enjoy this fun and active sport. Happening every Wednesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 1:30-3 p.m.  

Trails and Walkways

Port Colborne has eight trails, great for biking or walking your way through the community. Many of these trails connect communities in Niagara and beyond, including a section of The Great Trail, which travels through all 13 provinces and territories and is 27,000 kilometres long. Choose the Friendship Trail for a smooth, scenic option, or visit the Gord Harry Conservation Trail to get closer to nature. Parks

Port Colborne is home to over 20 public parks. Many of these green spaces offer playgrounds for children, or sports fields, which are free for public use and are available on a first come first served basis. Centennial Park and H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park also have large and small pavilions available to be rented. Our parks make great picnic spots, with some offering views of the passing ships in the canal. Discovery Spray Pad

H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park’s Discovery Spray Pad is up and running for the season. The spray pad is a great way for kids to keep cool on hot days while still enjoying the outdoors during the summer break. The pad operates daily from mid-June until labour day, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. To learn more about the Discovery Spray Pad rules, visit our webpage.

Sugarloaf Marina Rentals

New this summer, Sugarloaf Marina will be offering non-motorized watercraft rentals. Try your hand at paddle boarding or kayaking around the lagoon at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park and enjoy the view of Lake Erie as you relax on the water. More information about rentals can be found on the Sugarloaf Marina webpage. 

Community Concert Series

The Port Colborne Community Concert Series returns for 2024. Taking place at the H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park bandshell. New additions and familiar favourites will fill the park with music this season. The shows start at 7 p.m. and admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, to be collected and donated to Port Cares. View the lineup and dates here.

Canal Days

The Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, presented by GIO Rail, returns for its 46th instalment this Civic Holiday weekend. From August 2-5, the festival will offer attractions and activities for residents and visitors. Canal Days is celebrated throughout the entire community with opportunities for people of all ages to get involved. With tall ship cruises, concerts, vendors and more, Port Colborne’s largest summer event has something for everyone. Beaches

Our community has two beautiful beaches on Lake Erie, attracting residents and tourists alike due to their versatility, sandy shores, and clean facilities. Nickel Beach is home to SplashTown Niagara, an inflatable water park that is great for thrill-seekers. New for 2024 Nickel Beach now has a Dog Zone, where you and your furry friend can have a blast together in the sand and water. Centennial -Cedar Bay Beach is great for the recreation lover, with tennis courts, volleyball courts, and horseshoe rings available for beachgoers.
