With Health Canada’s recent approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for 5-11 year olds, the provincial booking system opened today (Tuesday, Nov. 23) for bookings in Niagara Region Public Health COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

The following clinics are currently available for booking through the provincial booking system for those 5-11 years old. In particular, there is the potential for earlier clinic dates to be added, depending on how early the vaccine arrives.

  • Fort Erie, Leisureplex – Nov. 28-29, Dec. 7-8
  • Port Colborne, Visitors Centre – Nov. 28
  • Niagara Falls, MacBain Community Centre – Nov. 28-30
  • West Lincoln, West Niagara Agricultural Centre – Nov. 29-Dec. 3
  • Wainfleet, Fire Station 2– Dec. 1-3
  • Niagara Falls, Canada One Outlet Mall – Dec. 1-13
  • Pelham, Meridian Centre – Dec. 4-13
  • Port Colborne, Italian Hall – Dec. 4-6
  • Niagara-on-the Lake, Community Centre - Dec 10-12
  • St. Catharines, Pen Centre - Dec 14 -18

Additional clinics dates and locations across the region will continue to be added to the portal and our clinic schedule.

Starting today (Nov. 23), appointments can be booked either online through the provincial portal at Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling the provincial booking system at 1-833-943-3900. Those without a health card can fill out our COVID-19 - No Health Card form. Please be sure your chld has not received another vaccine in the 14 days prior to their appointment.

Due to the expected strong demand for vaccination, there will be NO WALK-INs at these clinics to maximize the number of children we can book into appointments.

As well, because of the importance of getting this newly eligible age group vaccinated with their first dose, Public Health clinics will be prioritizing those 5-11 year olds and not taking bookings for other age groups during this time. Anyone who is 12 years of age or older and is looking to get a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is invited to check with a participating pharmacy or family doctor's office to get the vaccine.

The age 5-11 version of Pfizer-BioNTech’s Comirnaty vaccine is a different formulation to the vaccine used in adults and children age 12 and older. The version approved for younger children is just as effective as the previous version, but with fewer side effects, ensuring children will have a great vaccination experience.

When coming for your child’s appointment, please be sure to bring their health card, have them dressed in a short sleeve or loose fitting top, and wearing a mask.
