Hours of Operation
Nickel Beach officially opens on Victoria Day weekend.
Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (the beach is closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., including for walk-on users).
The beach season ends on Thanksgiving weekend.
During the colder months between Thanksgiving and Victoria Day, the beach is open to walk-on users 24 hours/day.
Beach Rules
We want all beachgoers to have a wonderful time while visiting Nickel Beach. There are a few rules to keep in mind if you’re planning your visit. Visitors who violate these rules will be refused entry or asked to leave the beach immediately.
- Don’t upsell, transfer or sell daily parking passes or PORTicipate passes, or otherwise falsify information related to parking passes or fees.
- Please drive carefully within the parking lots and roadways close to the beach as pedestrians, often with children, are walking in the area.
- Leave any prohibited items at home (alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, etc.)
- Don’t play music using loud speakers/music systems at an excessive or disruptive level.
- Don’t engage in disruptive or abusive behavior towards staff, security, or any other member of the public which contravenes the Nickel Beach Code of Conduct
- Please be respectful of the natural environment and obey the signage related to protected sand dunes, toads, and other natural features.
- Don’t light a fire of any kind.
- Don’t launch a motorized watercraft from the beachfront. The public boat launch at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park is only a short ride away from Nickel Beach.
- Don’t plan to camp out on the beach.
Code of Conduct
Please respect our facilities and help us maintain a clean, safe, secure and positive atmosphere for all by following the Code of Conduct and respecting other patrons and staff.
- The City of Port Colborne has a zero-tolerance policy for violence or harassment.
- Show respect to other patrons, and staff. Please treat everyone with courtesy and consideration.
- Causing a disturbance or bullying, in any form, is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
- Respect the property. Horseplay, damage, or vandalism of any kind is prohibited.
- Take responsibility for your actions and understand that irresponsible behaviour may result in disciplinary action.
- Please report any inappropriate behaviour to City staff, security, or the Niagara Regional Police.
Any violation is considered a breach of this Code of Conduct. Individual(s) that breach the Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the beach, with the potential for further suspension from the Beach.
