Canada Post has resumed operations and is now safely ramping up and stabilizing services nationwide.

Property owners and residents are reminded that they remain responsible for on-time water bill payments. Payments must be made by their due date, and regular penalties will apply for late payments.

New Year’s Eve family fun gets started early in Port Colborne

The excitement of New Year’s Eve will start in the afternoon in Port Colborne with a full slate of activities at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre.

Taking place from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, an afternoon of swimming, skating, fireworks and more will offer a chance for families to ring in the new year early.

During the holidays, the City of Port Colborne will close administrative buildings while other City buildings will experience differing hours. Meanwhile, there are also a variety of activities taking place throughout the city, as well as additional key information to be aware of.

The City of Port Colborne’s planned holiday closure will begin at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24 with City administrative buildings reopening Monday, Jan. 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Mitchell Street closed between Durham Street and Louis Street

Dates: Beginning Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Mitchell Street between Durham Street and Louis Street

Details: Mitchell Street will be closed to accommodate a Home Dedication Ceremony – Celebrating the completion of a Habitat for Humanity house on Mitchell Street, and handing over the keys to the new homeowner family.

Update: Interim Fire Chief in Port Colborne

Last week, the City of Port Colborne announced it would not move forward with a shared services agreement for emergency fire services with the Township of Wainfleet. As part of that update, the City shared that Chief David Wood would join Port Colborne as our Interim Fire Chief.

After further reflection, Chief Wood has decided not to move forward as Port Colborne’s Interim Fire Chief. The City appreciates Chief Wood’s support as we navigate this change, and wish him well in his retirement.
