Beach season is here, and the City looks forward to welcoming non-Port Colborne residents to Nickel Beach and Centennial-Cedar Bay Beach starting Wednesday, June 2.

Niagara’s municipal flags lowered to honour residential school victims

Regional Chair Jim Bradley and Niagara’s 12 mayors offered the following joint statement:

On behalf of the people of Niagara, we have asked that flags be lowered at municipal facilities across the region in honour of the 215 children who were recently found in a mass grave at a former residential school in Kamloops. The flags will remain at half-mast for one hour for each of the lives that were taken. 

Starting Monday, May 31, flags will be flown at half-mast until June 8.

Bridge 21, the Clarence Street Bridge, will be closed to all traffic on Tuesday, June 1 & Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The community bus traveling across the canal will be free to riders during this time.

The City of Port Colborne is seeking resident input on the redevelopment of Lockview Park. Residents are invited to participate in a virtual open house, where they can ask questions and hear updates. The first virtual open house is happening next Wednesday, June 2 at 6:30 p.m.
