The provincial COVID-19 vaccine registration portal is now open. Individuals who will be turning 80 or older in 2021 (born in 1941 or earlier) and wish to make an appointment — or an individual trusted to make an appointment on their behalf – can now book an appointment either online at Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Information Line number at 1-888-999-6488.

The provincial COVID-19 vaccine registration portal is set to open Monday, March 15 and those 80 years of age or older will be eligible to book an appointment. Within the first 22 days of launching mass vaccination clinics, Niagara Region Public Health will hold clinics in all parts of the region. The City of Port Colborne has received reports of a possible phone scam happening in the area. Residents have received phone calls from individuals falsely stating they are from the City of Port Colborne. These individuals are advising homeowners they need to access their basements to determine if they qualify to have a sump pump put in as they have been identified as a house in a “red zone” for flooding.

Over the next several days only, Niagara Health is working with family doctors in the community to directly schedule residents 80 years of age and older to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. These vaccinations will take place at the hospital’s clinic at Seymour Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre in St. Catharines.
