Port Colborne volunteers recognized at appreciation dinner

More than 250 volunteers attended the city’s annual appreciation dinner held Sept. 17 at the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre.

The dinner is a small gesture of gratitude to the registered volunteers with the city for the countless hours they contribute to services offered by the municipality, from shows at the Roselawn Centre, to the Public Library, Museum, Arabella’s Tea Room, Committees of Council, and several events from Canal Days to Santa Claus Parade and New Year’s Eve Celebration.

The theme of this year’s appreciation dinner was a luau party because, in the words of the city’s volunteer coordinator, Luke Rowe, “our volunteers have really ‘lu-wowed’ us with their contributions to the City of Port Colborne.”

Volunteer facts:
- 530 volunteers registered with the City of Port Colborne in 2018.
- In 2018 5,072 hours were given to the Roselawn Centre, events, and committees of council volunteers in 2018.
- 4,108 volunteer hours were accumulated in 2018 by volunteers at the Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum.
