Port Colborne easing more restrictions on outdoor spaces and City facilities

Posted by Corporate Communications on Thursday, May 28th, 2020

The City continues to look forward to a safe and gradual re-opening and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, lifting more restrictions on some outdoor spaces and City facilities.

What is new?

· The Alogport Skateboard & BMX Park at Lock 8 Gateway Park is open as of Friday, May 29, 2020.

· Your Port Colborne Public Library, 310 King Street, will begin curbside pick-up services on Monday, June 1, 2020.

What does this mean? Patrons can place a hold online at www.portcolbornelibrary.org for library materials (books, DVDs, board games, video games, etc.) or by contacting library staff by calling 905-834-6512 or emailing library@portcolborne.ca. Library staff will assist patrons by placing holds or providing personalized readers’ advisory. Once holds are placed on materials, curbside pick-up appointments will be arranged for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12 – 4 p.m. Curbside pick-up parking stalls will be available in front of the Library on King Street and on Elgin Street. Once parked, patrons will find their materials in bags on a table in front of the Library’s main doors. Please note, patrons must return library materials in the 24/7 book drop located on the north side of the building.

Staff at the Port Colborne Public Library will also continue to offer virtual programming. Be sure to like and follow them on Facebook (@PortColbornePublicLibrary), Twitter (@portcolbornelib), and Instagram (@portcolbornelib), or visit www.portcolbornelibrary.org for programming schedule and information.

· Sugarloaf Marina will be phasing their re-opening for the safety of slip holders and staff, beginning Thursday, May 28, 2020.

What does this mean? The Sugarloaf Marina Main Office and the Marine Supply Store are both open for slip holder access only. The Main Office is open seven days a week, Monday – Sunday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for slip holders to make payments and public boat launch ramp passes on the weekend only. The Marine Supply Store is open Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for public boat launch ramp passes and marine supplies. Public boat launch ramp passes are also available online at www.portcolborne.ca/page/marina.

As of Thursday, May 28, 2020, the docks are open for slip holders only, with guidelines set out by Sugarloaf Marina staff. Any 2019 slip holders, who do not require marina staff assistance and have paid in full for the 2020 season, can begin tying up their boats to their docks for the 2020 season.

The next phase of re-opening will begin Tuesday, June 2, 2020, when Sugarloaf Marina staff will begin launching boats, by appointment only. Slip holders can schedule an appointment by calling 905-835-6644.

Fuel docks will also open Tuesday, June 2, 2020.

What else is open?

These include frequent washing/sanitization of hands, physical separation, avoiding touching of shared surfaces, and staying home if displaying symptoms or having been in contact with cases of the virus.
