Special Weather Statement - Wind Warning

Strong winds are expected Monday, April 13 in the afternoon and evening. Strong southwesterly wind gusts near 100 km/h are possible, with the strongest winds expected along the Lake Erie shoreline. Winds will ease Monday night. These winds are the result of a low-pressure system tracking over Northwestern Ontario.

Staff will be monitoring the weather over the weekend and will be proactively responding on Monday to situations arising from the weather conditions.

Our crews have tools ready to respond to any city downed trees, especially on roadways, and we have our tree contractor available if necessary. Staff will also be barricading any flooding and restricting access to public shoreline points, such as H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park, due to high lake levels.

Our street sweeping program has cleared debris on top of catch basins in the urban area to ensure surface water drains are operating effectively and crews will be checking our inlet and outlet grates before and after the event along our drainage system in the rural area to ensure efficient flow.

Crews will also be monitoring lake levels and wind speeds to ensure management and control our municipal drain outlets.
