Niagara This Week

Port Colborne residents have a chance to get involved with the city.

The city is currently accepting applications for various positions on boards and committees. Vacancies are the result of current appointments concluding, resignations and some positions that weren’t previously filled. The city will be accepting applications until Jan. 13.

Residents can apply for positions on Heritage Port Colborne (Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee), the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum board and the Port Colborne Transit Advisory committee (an education representative and senior’s representative).

Appointments last four years, but those filling positions for people who resigned or vacancies that were never filled will serve the remainder of the original term.

Applicants must be, unless otherwise stated: 18 or older, an eligible voter for the City of Port Colborne, not disqualified by the Municipal Act, Municipal Election Actor the Planning Act and must not be an employee of the city or the board.

Applications can be delivered or mailed to city hall, 66 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne, Ontario, L3K 3C8.

They can also be emailed to city clerk Ashley Grigg at ashleygrigg@portcolborne.ca. Forms can be found at city hall or on the city’s website, www.portcolborne.ca. Applicants must provide sufficient information on their qualifications and related experience.
