Deputy Clerk

Reporting to the Clerk, you will provide a broad range of support and advice related to legislative and governance matters; assist in the research and preparation of council resolutions, by-laws, reports, policies and procedures, correspondence, council agendas and minutes, and; assist with records management oversight. You will also respond to public inquiries and requests, participate in risk management and licensing and act in the absence of the Clerk.


With post-secondary education in public administration, political science or business administration, you have three years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal clerk’s environment. You have broad knowledge of municipal legislation and administration, parliamentary procedure, municipal elections, licensing, corporate records/information management, and customer service. You are an organized professional, demonstrating sound judgment, integrity and trust. An effective communicator, you possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills, able to coordinate and manage workloads, deal with conflicting demands, and concentrate on work requirements under pressure to meet competing deadlines. Attendance at evening meetings is a requirement.


The position offers a salary of $65,827.94 to $74,107.49, based on 35 hours per week, plus competitive benefits.

Project Coordinator - Customer Relationship Management (1 year contract)

Employing project management methods, you will lead the multi-phased implementation of a new customer service initiative using CityWide CRM software applications. Among other things, you will master the platform; collaborate across departments to understand client processes; create a service knowledgebase; develop content and solutions; integrate work order tracking; create and deliver staff training, and; collaborate on a refresh of the client’s website. From time to time, you will perform the role of Customer Service Representative to understand services, improve delivery and develop the customer service team. General duties and responsibilities include;

  • Implement CRM software and work order software

  • Establish new customer service centre, policies, procedures and best practices

  • Contribute to customer service counter redesign

  • Establish new website

With post-secondary education in business or related discipline, you have experience in the development and implementation of CRM software, preferably in a municipal setting (or have demonstrated knowledge of municipal government functions, processes and service delivery). You possess a customer service orientation and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks. Tech-savvy, you are an effective communicator and presenter, skilled in project management and partnership building necessary to achieve desired outcomes. Other requirements include;

  • Ability to interact with customers and network with staff with tact and diplomacy

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines

  • Ability to perform as high energy team leader

  • Skilled in computers and software operation


The position offers a salary of $56,490.25 - $72,664.80 ($31.04-34.94 per hour) plus competitive benefits.
