Director of Engineering and Operations

The City of Port Colborne is seeking a highly experienced and motivated professional with superior leadership, communication, analytical, report writing, customer service skills, and political intuition, who works well in a fast paced environment and can help drive the Corporation forward in accomplishing the goals and strategic direction set by Council to fulfill the role of Director, Engineering and Operations.   

 

You are a Director or Senior Manager preferably in a Municipality with a minimum of ten years of progressive civil engineering experience and with a progressive and visionary leadership style.  You have the highest level of ethics, values and integrity and will bring exemplary interpersonal, communications, relationship building skills and creative strategies to the position. Proven success in working with elected officials, other levels of government and multi-stakeholders is essential.  Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director is responsible for all aspects of the Engineering, Public Works, Water/Wastewater and Environmental Services divisions.  A University degree in Civil Engineering and OACETT membership or suitable equivalent in a related field is a necessity.    P. Eng designation would be a definite asset.

Planning Technician

The City of Port Colborne is seeking an energetic and motivated candidate who would like to help drive the corporation forward in accomplishing the goals and strategic direction set by Council. If you enjoy working with the public, consider joining our team.  

The Planning Technician will act as Secretary/Treasurer to the Committee of Adjustment and process consent to sever and minor variance applications under The Planning Act including notices, record keeping and circulations. Responsible to provide full range of clerical services and assistance with providing statistical and graphical support services to the Planning & Development Services Division.  You have a minimum College Diploma (2 years) as Planning Technician or equivalent education and experience with graphical, word processing, CAD and GIS skills, a good knowledge of the land use planning process and the Planning Act, and good knowledge of the Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw of the municipality. You possess good organizational and time management skills along with the ability to communicate effectively.

This is a full time union position based on 35 hours per week. The rate is $26.28 per hour with a competitive benefit and pension package.
