The City of Port Colborne is proud of its vibrant culture and marine heritage. Throughout the year we host various events and festivals including Canal Days, Christmas in Port Colborne, New Year's Eve and Canada Day. These events allow us to engage with the local community, invite visitors to experience the very best of Port Colborne, and partner with various stakeholders.

Although events and festivals right now may look different because of COVID-19, City staff are finding creative ways for residents to PORTicipate and promote tourism in the area.

If you would like to plan a special event in Port Colborne utilizing town infrastructure, such as roads or parks you must fill out an Event Application. Our event team will be happy to work with you!

Christmas at the Museum

In celebration of the traditions you have come to love at the Grand Old Christmas Festival, the board and staff of the museum will welcome guests on Sunday, Dec. 5. Although things are different again this year, the heritage village will be decorated, Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be visiting, and the holiday spirit will be flowing. There will also be three festive offerings for attendees:

From 12 - 4 p.m. the doors to the Nigh Agora Museum will be open, celebrating the heritage of the century farm and its people. This little country museum was originally housed in a barn on Pinecrest Road, but now has a new home in the Carriage House on the grounds of the museum. The Nigh Agora Museum was a labour of love created in 1989 by the late Mildred Nigh. Mildred and her husband, Harold, discovered a collection of handcrafted tools, utensils, baskets and more—some dating from the early 1800s— when they bought their farm from Olive Knisley in 1972. These beautiful treasures were preserved for decades by Mildred, and her collection was generously donated to the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum in 2020.
