Councillor Angie Desmarais

It is both an honour and a privilege to represent the residents of Ward 2 at the council table.

Born and raised in Toronto, I am the product of a working-class Italian-Canadian family. Along with my 2 children, I moved to Port Colborne in 1986 where I met and married my husband Gilles. We have lived at 270 Davis Street for over 20 years. I have a strong volunteer background, having served on many boards and committees in Niagara.  My personal interests include the study of the history and the families of the Ottawa Valley and of Quebec's Eastern Townships.

While striving to carry out the policies and objectives needed to bring prosperity and growth to our city, I will always work to:

  • bring Ward 2 concerns to the forefront in council chambers
  • make sure that your tax dollars focus first and foremost on the services that come to your door
  • seek direction from each of you to continue building a community of which we can all be proud
  • support the development of affordable facilities that suit the needs of our community

I welcome contact from any residents wishing to share their opinions and concerns. I can be contacted via e-mail at angiedesmarais@portcolborne.ca, or by phone at 905-835-5021.

Councillor Yvon Doucet

Councillor Yvon Doucet

I was born in Welland on February 5, 1951 to Yvette and Leopold Doucet.  I was educated in the French School system in Welland.  My wife, a Port Colborne native, and I were married on July 21, 1973. We have made Ward 2 our home ever since that date.  We have 2 sons and 3 grandchildren that also make their home in Ward 2.  My teaching career started in September 1972 in Windsor, Ontario but I returned to Port Colborne the next year.  I taught for 33 years before retiring from the Niagara Catholic District School Board.

I have been involved in numerous clubs and organizations over the years.  My main goal has always been to be helpful in any organization that I am or have been a member.  My interest in municipal government came from this goal and the understanding that I could help my community by taking part in the governing body of that community.  I was first appointed to Council in 1989 and then ran successfully in 1991.  I then was part of your council for 13 years, up until 2003.

It is truly an honour and privilege to have your trust and confidence once again.  I look forward to representing you for the next 4 years.  I ran for council with the idea of helping my neighbours.  Please do not hesitate to e-mail or phone me with any of your concerns and I will do my best to address them as quickly as possible.  You can also reach me at my website  yvondoucet.ca.
