Voters' List

What is the Voters' List and how is it created?

The Voters' List is the list of eligible electors in the City of Port Colborne for the 2014 Municipal Election.  The Voters’ List contains the name, address, school support and occupancy status of eligible electors in the City.  The Preliminary List of Electors contains the data used by the City to create the Voters’ List. The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for preparing the Preliminary List of Electors for each municipality and school board during an election year.  MPAC uses its 'Municipal Property Assessment database' of both property owners and tenants to prepare the Preliminary List of Electors.

The Voters’ List will be available for public inspection at City Hall and the Port Colborne Public Library beginning on September 2, 2014.

Get on the List!

Being on the City of Port Colborne Voters' List ensures that you will receive your Voter Notification Card (VNC), which tells you when and where to vote. In addition, having your VNC will speed up your time at the voting place.

From September 2 to October 27, revisions to the Voters' List are carried out by the City Clerk's Office. During this time period, eligible electors can check if they are on the List by visiting or calling City Hall at (905) 835-2900 (note: if making an enquiry by phone, please be prepared to provide complete elector information including name, address, and date of birth.  With this information, staff can confirm whether or not an elector matching that information is on the List. Privacy considerations restrict staff from conducting a search using incomplete information)

From September 2 to October 27, electors may also make an application requesting that their name be added or removed from the Voters’ List or that the information on the Voters’ List relating to them be amended.  The application form is available below and from the Clerk's Office.

Application to Amend Voters’ List (Form EL 15)

The period of time to remove another person’s name from the Voters’ List was September 2 and September 12, 2014 and is now closed.

Eligible electors may also add their name to the Voters' List at the voting place when they go to vote. Electors will be required to complete an application and asked for identification showing their name and qualifying Port Colborne address.
