About the South Niagara Health Care Corporation
South Niagara Health Care Corporation was established in response to the Hospital Improvement Plan that was introduced by the Niagara Health System in the summer of 2008. Moving forward, the corporation has a desire to carry the local health care needs directly to the province in the form of a plan for the delivery of health care in small and rural communities.
Mayor Vance Badawey stated that "Extensive consultation with health care service providers and enablers was key to establishing this framework for the delivery of health care in small rural communities. Relaying a message of dissatisfaction with the changes to our health care to the NHS, the LHIN and the Minister of Health falls on deaf ears without presenting a clear and credible vision of the type of health care system our community requires."

South Niagara Health Care Corporation Memberships
Memberships for the South Niagara Health Care Corporation are now available.
City manager Bob Heil said the corporation is now selling memberships for $10 for individuals and $25 for families.
He said receipts will be given but they are not deductible against your annual income taxes. Heil said the money collected for the memberships will be used to cover the expenses of the new corporation, such as legal costs, going forward.
Heil said it is important for "everybody in the city to purchase a membership."
He said memberships can be purchased at city hall by contacting his executive assistant, Carrie McIntosh.
