Lake Erie Flood Warning - October 27

This notice is intended to update the public and local municipalities of the condition of the Lake Erie shoreline within the Niagara Peninsula and the eastern portion of Haldimand County.

Sustained strong winds have resulted in a rise of Lake Erie water levels of approximately 2.3m (7.5 feet) with significant waves heights of over 1.5m (5 feet) being experienced. Flooded roads along the lakeshore in Fort Erie have been reported. The lake levels are expected to crest mid-afternoon today and recede this evening.

Stakeholders with interests along Lake Erie should pay close attention to water levels and waves in their area. Residents are urged to use caution or stay away from the shoreline of Lake Erie during this event. The NPCA will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as required.
