Volunteers needed for Port Colborne holiday events

Posted by Michelle Idzenga on Thursday, October 17th, 2019

The City of Port Colborne is looking for volunteers to assist at the Annual Lighted Santa Claus Parade, Saturday, Dec. 7 and at the New Year’s Eve Family Celebration, Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Volunteer Safety Ambassadors are needed for the Santa Claus Parade from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. These individuals will enforce safety by preventing cars from passing road closures and stopping pedestrians from crossing unsafely during the parade. Volunteers for the New Year’s Eve Family Celebration are needed to monitor and manage the games, mad scientist and cookie decorating stations from approximately 1 - 6 p.m.

“Volunteers make up a significant portion of our events operations,” said Luke Rowe, events assistant and volunteer coordinator. “Events like the Santa Claus Parade and New Year’s Eve Family Celebration would not be possible without the contributions from volunteers in our community”.

PORTicipate as a volunteer this holiday season and ring in the New Year with the City of Port Colborne! If interested, visit www.portcolborne.ca/page/volunteer_signup, email volunteers@portcolborne.ca or call 905-835-2900 ext. 566.
