Port Colborne's West Side Tennis Courts get a makeover

Posted by Michelle Cuthbert on Tuesday, July 16th, 2019

Looking to swing a tennis racket or pickleball paddle this summer? Good news, the City has recently resurfaced their outdoor tennis courts to accommodate both tennis and pickleball.

Utilizing deferred budgeted funds, the Parks Department invested $60,000 into the courts at 143 Helen Street. Court Services Specialists, based out of Toronto, were contracted to complete the project. Features of the courts include:

  • Four tennis courts that can also be converted to eight pickleball courts;

  • Fiberglass playing courts with a rubberized blue paint;

  • Screening around the courts to diminish effects of wind; and

  • Lighting for evening play.

“These are really our courts of dreams”, commented Mike Audit, parks foreman. “Now that we’ve built them we really want to see them get used”.

How can you PORTicipate on the courts?
