King Street Elevated Tank Decomissioning

Project Description or Purpose:   Niagara Region will be undertaking a project to demolish and remove the existing elevated water tank and surrounding outbuildings located at 35 King St., Port Colborne.

Project Status or When:   This project is scheduled to begin starting on Thursday Feb. 14, 2019 with an anticipated completion at the end of March 2019.

Construction Activities or What to expect or Why is this happening?   Work on the project will begin with site preparation with activities such as the  instillation of temporary fencing and signs and the creation of temporary access points. Following the site preparation, the  demolition and removal of the elevated water tank and out-buildings will take place along with the removal of all buried infrastructure on the project site. There will also be work required to on associated water infrastructure on King Street to modify the pipes as a result of the tank removal. When the work is completed, the fencing and signs will be removed and the site restored.

Interruptions in water service may take place as a result of the work. Residents will receive further information when an interruption in water service is expected.

There will be limited access on roads near the project site (Sugarloaf St., King St., West St.) which could cause minor travel delays.
