Port Colborne to unveil new Sports Wall of Fame and announce four new inductees

The City of Port Colborne and Sports Wall of Fame Committee will be holding a ceremony on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. to unveil the new Sports Wall of Fame and announce four new inductees into the Sports Wall of Fame. There are currently 23 members and their plaques, along with the new inductees, will be mounted at their new home, the Vale Health & Wellness Centre (550 Elizabeth Street, Port Colborne, L3K 5W3). The Sports Wall of Fame was originally created in 1991 at the West Side Arena.

Sports Wall of Fame current members include: Ray “Bricky” Leavere, Scott Gruhl. John M. Horvath, 1934/35 PC Juniors, 1948/49 PC Merchants Intermediate “A”, Isadore Sponder, Fraser “Killer” Kilpatrick, Alexander McNay, J. Emedio Sergnese, Joseph Krahulec, Archibald T.C. Saville, Jerry Leitch, Muir “Goonie” McGowan, Mike Green, 1972/73 Intermediate Sailors, Edward James Rafferty, Bill Mountain, Ambrose Patrick McAvoy, E.G.March, Robert “Nipper” Wilson, Florent Cloutier, and James H. Walter.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the ceremony. A light reception will follow the ceremony. Note: The Walking Track will be closed for use by the public during this event.

Sports Wall of Fame Committee members include Bryan Theal, event & seasonal sport coordinator at the City of Port Colborne, Tom Lannan, Bob Saracino, Bill Steele, and Councillor Dave Elliott. Tom Lannan will be the master of ceremonies.

Sponsorship of the production and installation of the new Sports Wall of Fame has been provided by Golden Puck Hockey.
