One of two brand new Mobi-Chairs, an accessible beach chair, was stolen from on Thursday, September 6, 2018.
“This summer, through the efforts of staff, Nickel Beach became an accessible destination for beach goers with the addition of an accessible path and two new accessible beach chairs,” commented Scott Luey, CAO. “We work to provide our residents and visitors with amenities required to enjoy our facilities and it’s disheartening when property is damaged or stolen.”
Mayor Maloney commented further, expressing council’s disappointment. “The City works hard to ensure accessible infrastructure is incorporated into our recreational facilities and programming, and to have members of our community working against our efforts is unfortunate, particularly for those residents impacted”.
If anyone from the public has any information about the whereabouts of this accessible beach chair, they are to contact the Niagara Regional Police Services, 6 District (Port Colborne) by calling 905-735-7811 ext. 3200 and refer to incident number 18-88409.
Members of council and staff appreciate the public’s efforts in working towards the safe return of this chair so all residents and visitors can enjoy summer 2019 at Nickel Beach.
