Weather Update - April 14 / 15

Weather Update #7 - April 15 7:37 p.m. 

Plows have been active since 5:00 a.m. after sanding through the night. Crews will continue plowing with a second shift continuing to work at clearing roads into early evening. All primary roads have been plowed and secondaries are currently being tackled. 

No reports of any trees down and no reports of any localized flooding.

Road patrols continue to monitor conditions.

With the Rainfall Warning is 20-25 mm through the night staff will be monitoring for any flooding issues.

Weather Update #6 (April 15 - 9:21 a.m.) - A full plow session took place last night. All primary and secondary roads were sanded.
Sanding crews were dispatched at 5 a.m. this morning and continue to sand the primary roads. Once the sanding material has taken affect, primary roads will be plowed.
Staff will continue to monitor the road conditions throughout this storm event.

Weather Update #5 (11:38 a.m.) Power has been restored to most of the City. If not in your area it will be shortly. The Vale Health & Wellness Centre is open and ice rentals will continue on schedule.

Weather Update #4 (9:32 a.m.) From Canadian Niagara Power: Update power outage in Port Colborne and Sherkston. Crews working to restore power. Estimated time of restoration is 12:00 p.m.

Weather Update #3 (8:49 a.m.)
The Vale Health & Wellness Centre is without power and currently operating on generator power. Until the power returns all ice rentals are cancelled. The YMCA is also closed. Walking track is open. Stay tuned for updates. Travel according to changing weather conditions and stay safe.

Weather Update #2 (8:38 a.m.) - Any students in Port Colborne? Brock University exams scheduled for today have been cancelled. Will be rescheduled for April 26.
Niagara College cancelling part-time studies outdoor classes for the Basic Rider Training program and M2Exit program.

Weather Update (8:18 a.m. - April 14) Canadian Niagara Power is reporting power outages across Port Colborne. Loss of supply is from Hydro One source. Crews from both CNPI and Hydro One (Cambridge) have been dispatched to patrol affected line. Stay up to date by following CNP on twitter: @ CNPpower

The Port Colborne Public Library will be closed due to power outage.

The Port Colborne YMCA (YMCA of Niagara) is currently closed due to a power outage. Please stay tuned for updates as to when they reopen. They apologize for any inconvenience.
