PORT COLBORNE - The top wakeboarders and wakeskaters in Ontario will compete in the first-ever Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Provincial Championships this Sunday, August 19th at Niagara Boarder Pass in Port Colborne.

Wakeboarders and wakeskaters won’t want to leave anything behind on the water with the provincial championship and the Overall Disney XD Roots Wake Series Cable Tour title on the line at Sugarloaf Harbour Marina.

The event will also be the last chance many competitors have to ride in a competitive setting before they head to Quebec for national championships Aug. 23 to 26.

“We’re really excited to be heading to Port Colborne for the provincial championships,” said event director Erika Langman. “It’s the newest System 2.0 cable in Ontario, and the staff there have already been doing an amazing job of introducing new people to the sport.”

She said while much of the attention goes to the highest-level open divisions, there are also newbie and amateur categories for riders who are just getting their feet wet in the sport.

“Our goal has always been to make wakeboarding more accessible to everyone in Ontario, and we love to see fresh faces and new competitors come out to the events,” said Langman.
