Christmas in Port Colborne
Remember when Christmas was a time of wonder? When you braved the cold between the shops with an armload of "perfect gifts"? Bumping into folks you hadn't seen forever.... being good, for goodness sake? The City of Port Colborne wishes to invite you 'round for Christmas this year, because as much as Christmas has changed in other places, things are much the same here as they were back in the good old days....
We look forward to having you join us

On Friday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., join us at the Market Square for Port Colborne’s first ever Christmas Market. Featuring various local farmers and artisan vendors selling their products, this is the perfect opportunity to look for unique gifts this holiday season. Anyone interested in being a vendor can email email@example.com.
Downtown Christmas Light Display Contest
In partnership with the Port Colborne Downtown BIA, we’re inviting businesses and storefronts across Port Colborne to decorate in the most festive way they know how. There is no such thing as too many twinkle lights!
To enter, please email photos and a brief description to firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020. The winner will be chosen by the community in an online voting system. Voting will take place from Dec. 11 - 19, with the winner being announced on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020.
The winner will receive a Christmas Decoration Prize Pack and gift card to a local Port Colborne establishment (restaurant or retail shop).
Santa Claus Parade
Keeping in mind the health and safety of Port Colborne residents and staff, the decision has been made to cancel the Santa Claus parade this year. However, this doesn’t mean the festive fun needs to stop. In fact, the City’s Community and Economic Development Department has come up with a few creative ideas that are sure to delight, including a Christmas Market, home decorating contest and Grand Old Christmas take home kits.
Children's Christmas Card Contest
CONTEST NOW CLOSED: WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON
HELP DESIGN OUR COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CARD
It is with great pride, on behalf of the City of Port Colborne, we are inviting the children of our community to help us with the design of our 2020 Christmas card.
Christmas is a time of family and friends. It brings many wonderful memories. It's most appropriate that our children be a part of creating those memories which can be passed on to future generations.
The theme is “Christmas in Port Colborne.”
Submissions should be made on a white sheet of paper, 8 ½” X 11”, either vertical or horizontal, using any number of colours. Deep, dark colours produce a better illustration. I encourage you to draw an image that conveys the Christmas spirit with special focus on a Port Colborne person, place or thing.
The contest is open to all children who live or go to school in Port Colborne, up to and including those in grade 8.
All submissions must be received at the Mayor’s Office at City Hall, 66 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne, ON L3K 3G8 by Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 4 p.m.
Please print your name, address and telephone number on the back of the picture.
