Public feedback needed for Port Colborne marina and boat launch dredging project

The City of Port Colborne is seeking the public’s input on potentially dredging sediment buildup at Sugarloaf Marina and the public boat launch area.

As one of the largest municipally owned and operated marinas in Ontario, the marina provides 700 dock slips for both seasonal and transient boaters. Its operations include the public boat ramp that provides access to Lake Erie.

Deputy Mayor’s Report

Deputy Mayor Bodner thanked everyone for taking part in the recent healthcare public engagement activities and survey. He congratulated the Port Colborne Operatic Society on its production of Anything Goes. He thanked road crews for their efforts to clear snow from the roads during recent snow events. He congratulated Jeana Provias for her efforts at the Invictus Games, and discussed his upcoming attendance at the opening of the Chestnut Place affordable housing project.

West Street Closure

West Street Closed Between Adelaide Street and Victoria Street

Beginning Tuesday, March 4, 2025, West Street will be closed between Adelaide Street and Victoria Street from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for public utility infrastructure improvements.

Local traffic can follow the posted detour route.

An award-winning book created by Port Colborne children will now be available in local school libraries as well as for purchase at the Port Colborne Public Library.

Created at the City of Port Colborne’s Touch-A-Truck event on Oct. 3, the book features a compilation of pictures drawn by local children to reflect their experiences exploring different trucks, vehicles, and equipment that help City staff perform their day-to-day jobs.
