Special Weather Statement - Significant Rainfall

Posted by Michelle Idzenga on Friday, January 24th, 2020

Would it be a January weekend without a special weather statement?

Environment and Climate Change Canada have forecasted significant rainfall likely tonight. Rain is expected to begin this evening and then taper off or change to snow Saturday evening. Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm are expected.

The frozen ground and snowpack will have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Local ponding on streets is possible.

Today our Operations crews have been clearing all municipal drain outlets in our downtown and urban roadways and checked all drains in rural ditches in preparation for this weekend's rainfall.

If assistance is required from our Operations Department over the weekend, call 905-835-5079.

Stay dry, Port Colborne!
