Water Quality Testing - Sugarloaf Harbour Marina

Posted by Michelle Cuthbert on Wednesday, July 31st, 2019

The samples collected from the five sample points in Sugarloaf Harbour at Sugarloaf Marina on Tuesday, July 30, were tested for E. coli bacteria and provided a geometric mean of 206, just slightly over the acceptable limit of 200.

Therefore, following Niagara Region Public Health protocols for beach postings, Sugarloaf Harbour is posted as unsafe for swimming.

Niagara Region Public Health will be testing for E. coli, from the identified five sample points in Sugarloaf Harbour, for the remainder of the week and results will be posted daily on Sugarloaf Marina's webpage: http://portcolborne.ca/page/marina

The results found at Sugarloaf Harbour coincide with what is happening at beaches across the region. As of today Nickel Beach and Humberstone Centennial Park Beach are both posted as unsafe for swimming.
